Allergan Runs for Down Syndrome

We are so grateful to Marisa Tompkins for continued support of the LuMind RDS Runners program and Down syndrome cognition research. Marisa works at Allergan and she advocated for LuMind RDS to be selected as the beneficiary of her company’s fun run at a national conference in Texas on January 26, 2016.

Each year, an employee fun run is held during Allergan’s annual eye care training conference. Employees participating in the run are encouraged to make a donation to a pre-selected charity of the company’s choosing. Not only was LuMind RDS selected as this year’s charity, the Allergan Foundation agreed to a 1:1 corporate match of employee giving. All together Allergan and their wonderful employees raised more than $7,000 for Down syndrome research!

During the event, Marisa spoke to the crowd about the importance of Down syndrome cognition research and shared stories about her daughter, Emily, a beautiful two-year who has Down syndrome. (Read more about Emily and why Marisa is committed to supporting Down syndrome research).

Marisa certainly deserves a gold medal for securing this wonderful opportunity for LuMind RDS, but no one expected her to go on and also WIN THE RACE! Congratulations to Marisa – she is truly an incredible woman, on and off the race course!

And, of course, a BIG THANK YOU to Allergan and all their employees!
